Yum! I smell funnel cake! Numerous Food Trucks line the front of the Horseshoe for Fried Food Heaven. All your favorites; Funnel Cakes, Corn Dogs, Hamburgers, Kettle Korn and more… Then enjoy seating in the comfort of the Pavilion Cool Zone or under the Beer Garden Entertainment Tent.

A fair favorite, the Petting Zoo! Children and adults enjoy learning about, petting and feeding all their favorites, …chicks, cattle, goats, ponies, and even exotic animals! You never know when camel or kangaroo may make an appearance! And, don’t forget Oliver the Watusi! The zoo will be OPEN inside the completely air-conditioned Education building and adjacent terrace. HAND WASH STATION PROVIDED.

KIDS LOVE IT
Simply a Fair-Goer Favorite! Numerous Rides for Children and Adults make for a whirlwind time at the MCF Carnival. This year,
the fair will feature the new Pharaoh’s Fury, numerous “kiddie” rides, and the best sugar delights imaginable, including funnel cakes,
cotton candy, candy apples, caramel apples and more!

Lamb & Goat Show
*Pre-Fair Event. Sunday, August 19
The Lamb and Goat Show encourages youth to raise, groom and showcase their animals in a sanctioned, competitive environment which allows them to earn points, prizes, titles along with scholarships. The Show is a Pre-Fair event and held in the Horseshoe Livestock Building. The event draws between 175-225 Lamb and/or Goat Show participants. Participants and their families travel from all over the West Texas Region to compete for titles and awards. The event is “Free” to the public and a great way to start “Fair Season” at the Horseshoe. Bring your kiddos and enjoy an afternoon of lambs and goats and all FREE.

Team roping was added to the 2011 fair attraction and has grown to the point of requiring the event to move to the Saturday prior to the fair’s opening. It is one of our “pre-fair” events and grew to over 350 teams/participants. This component features two mounted riders consisting of a “header” who ropes the front of the steer and a "heeler," who ropes the steer by its hind feet. Team roping is the only rodeo event where men and women compete equally together in professionally sanctioned competition. This event is quickly becoming an annual favorite and kicks off fair week at the Horseshoe. Competitors compete for Midland County Fair Buckles, Cash and Saddles. Exciting West Texas Roping.

Little Miss Midland County Fair
Saturday, August 25. 11am - 1pm
Little Miss Midland County Fair attracts contestants from all over the West Texas Region. Contestants pre-sell fair tickets. Families come from Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, Stanton, Lubbock and even Dallas. It is a popular attraction at the fair and continues to grow each year. Support our Little Miss contestants, and purchase your early tickets today.
Blue Ribbon Competitions

Win your BLUE RIBBON! Applications available at the Horseshoe Business Office, or at the competition. Located in the Horseshoe Pavilion - North East Corner. Registration ends 10 minutes prior to each contest. Photo agreement and liability waiver must be signed for each participant in each event. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature. Midland County Fair, Midland County Horseshoe Arena and Dooley Management Company accept no responsibility for participation. Buckaroo Bootcamp Adventure – Become a Real Cowboy!
Ages 10 and under. Fun for the Whole Family! Hands-on interactive attraction. The Cowboy Bootcamp located at the “KIDS LOVE IT” FUN ZONE, inside the Pavilion. The Pavilion is completely air-conditioned and a place where the family can learn lasso and steer roping, stick pony races, sit on a saddle, gold panning
Along with other fun campfire games…Bean Box, Horseshoes, camp-out, and of course…dress like a cowboy. All participants will receive FREE I’m a Real Cowboy sticker.
Take your picture with a prehistoric friend, learn how to plant native Texas Plants, investigate the world of pollinators, climb up on a Tractor and dig for a dinosaur fossil. FREE FUN included in the “KIDS LOVE IT” FUN ZONE. Located in the air-conditioned Pavilion…don’t miss it!

Pet Parade and Pet Porch Adoptions
The fair is dog-gone crazy showing our love for our 4-legged friends.
Thursday night, we kick off the love with our annual Pet Parade. Winners will be awarded in Cutest, Ugliest, Dog-Owner-Look-a-Like, Best Dressed. 7pm – Amphitheater Stage.
Multiple-area non-profit animal rescue groups invite you to experience the “Pet Porch.” Sponsor, donate or adopt local animals in need of a Furr-Ever home. Located in the Main Arena Hahl Proctor Promenade.
“Mexican Rodeo or “Charreada” Latino Celebration
Sunday, Aug. 26, 3pm-8:00pm. Events evolved from activities of ranchers working livestock dating back over 100 years. Along with the elegant style of dress; the proficiency with their horses and fancy rope work, sets it apart from traditional rodeo. Along with the Charros, the ladies (Escaramuzas) will also take stage.
The Escaramuza competition involves a team of 8 ladies, riding side saddle, working a complicated and dangerous routine. They will be judged on execution, timing, and overall performance. Complete with Mariachis, Folklorico Dancers, and featuring TAMBARAZO NORTE. A must see!
West Texas Garden Tractor Pullers Association
Loud and Fun! Reminds you what a fair is all about! Competition begins Friday at 6pm until dark. Saturday 1pm - 5pm. Located on the West Side of the Horseshoe grounds. The event features competitive tractors pulling a weight transfer sled in different weight classes. It is a family sport that all family members can participate in. Meet the pullers and learn about this fun sport.
Lone Star Wars Exhibit
Lone Star Wars is a mash up art contest that combines anything and everything to do with Texas and Star Wars! This exhibit includes the use of Lone Star Beer paraphernalia collected by Artist Lucas Dooley. You can be a Lone Star Wars artist too!
Lucas Dooley is a native Texan and passionate Star Wars Fanatic! Lucas has been finalizing the presentation of Lone Star Wars, collecting materials, and building the idea for over seven years. Call it God, divine inspiration, or the force… life laid itself out for Lone Star Wars to finally happen.
